For the past few months, my husband has been going out of town for business trips. I swear I am the biggest chicken when it comes to staying home alone. I hear every noise and, of course, think the worst thing possible will happen without him home. I try to feel a little sorry for myself not having my husband around for a few days.
So I am having one of my "feel sorry for myself" moments and I decide to call up on of my girlfriends, Allie. Allie got married December 21, 2011 to the man of her dreams. His name is Blake. Just after two short weeks of becoming newlyweds she had to say "goodbye" as he left for deployment.
Army wives are tough. I couldn't imagine being a newlywed of only two weeks and then not seeing my husband for months after. Not to mention being an army wife would have to be the most nerve wrecking experience. There were a few times that Allie and I were hanging out and Blake would call. Because of the time difference, he would either be just getting in from a "mission" or not able to sleep. I didn't realize what exactly missions were and I truly still don't understand but, I know that every time his platoon goes on one, they are risking their lives.
With all of that being said, first and foremost, I would like to thank all of our service men and women for what they do. THey sacrifice their lives, time with their family, and so much more. When my husband leaves, I still miss him. But, I still count my blessings because I know that his trip is only temporary and the heating units that he works on aren't shooting back at him.
